ISSUE 01 - COURAGE

Courage that drives processes forward

Reading time: 6 min

Sometimes courage isn't about taking a big leap, but rather about calmly persevering—especially when many interests come together. In this interview, Jasmin Schuhmacher explains how she successfully implements complex projects using clear methods—and why courage in business doesn't have to be loud, but above all well managed.

"Only companies that are courageous can bring about change."

Jasmin Schuhmacher is a process and project manager at Lotus GmbH in Haiger. Lotus is a shared partner for the Joachim Loh Group in the areas of IT, controlling, HR, and finance. The group includes HAILO, world-renowned for its ladders, HAILO Wind Systems, HAILO Digital Hub, META Regalbau, and EXPRESSO—known for its luggage trolleys at airports. Satisfying so many customers at the same time is a real challenge in terms of process technology. Especially when it comes to something as sensitive as the introduction of a new time recording system...

Jasmin, as a process manager, you must sometimes feel like a Hindu goddess with many arms.

Yes, it's not always easy. With so many projects, you have to be well organized. It's always the same questions: How can I manage the project quickly and successfully? How do I deal with last-minute changes? How do I maintain direct communication with the various stakeholders? You never stop learning.

Why did you Haufe Akademie to training a training Haufe Akademie , and what were your expectations?

The training event training astraining . Essentially, my main concern was that time recording should be introduced in our group of companies. I wanted to prepare myself for how to structure this project. And that was exactly what the seminar covered. Basically, we were guided through an entire project with a common thread, covering all the essential features: What happens if the customer makes changes? How should this be handled? Who needs to be involved in the project? Which tools do I need to use in which phase?

Please tell us a little more about the training.

Actually, my colleagues recommended it to me: "That's exactly what you need to do to develop your process and project management skills." I training the training full of anticipation, expecting to learn lots of tools that would help me structure projects better.

And: Did it work out the way you imagined?

Yes, it really helped me enormously. The commercial sector is perhaps a little more demanding when it comes to implementing time tracking: a project like this is somewhat more extensive than in the employee sector. I was able to apply many of the tools I learned directly—and thus bring the project to a very successful conclusion.

Were there any measurable successes?

I was a little apprehensive about the introduction: would everything work smoothly? That's why we conducted a survey at the end. The employees who used our time tracking system were very satisfied with the implementation. We received some great feedback. Of course, I can't measure that in numbers. But the fact that such a program has been so positively received is a success for us in itself. And that's exactly why we've now training another training . This time, it's about change management. We're inviting the Haufe Akademie cometraining antraining —simply to push the whole team forward.

And what did you personally training out of the training ?

Personally, the training made me more courageous. I was able to apply training and celebrate my successes. I also believe that success is what makes you courageous. This courage helps you overcome obstacles and take risks the next time around. During training I also learned to assess risks a little better. And to decide: Where can I be courageous—and where not?

Thank you, Jasmin, for talking to us.

Seminar tip

When things get complex, an agile approach helps

As the interview shows, in sensitive projects with many stakeholders, the way in which collaboration is carried out often determines success. The training "Agile Project Management – Basics for Beginners" gives you a practical introduction to agile values, principles, and techniques for managing change in a step-by-step, more transparent, and more flexible way – even outside of IT.
