Module 1: First steps with Transact-SQL
In this module, you will learn the basics of the Transact-SQL (T-SQL) language as well as general properties and terms of relational databases. This module also introduces the basic SELECT statement for retrieving data from a table.
Lessons:
Exercise: First steps with the SQL Server query tools and writing queries in T-SQL
Module 2: Sorting and filtering query results
In this module, you will learn how to control which data is returned in which order. You will use the ORDER BY clause, with and without paging. You will learn about different types of filters that can be used in the WHERE clause to control which rows of data are returned. You will also learn how to manage the results by removing duplicates with DISTINCT.
Lessons:
Exercise: Sorting and filtering data returned by SELECT queries
Module 3: Using joins and subqueries
In this module, you will learn about T-SQL queries that access data from multiple tables using different types of JOIN operations and simple subqueries.

Module 4: Using built-in functions
In this module, you will learn how to use built-in functions to return calculated or special values in the SELECT list or in the WHERE clause. Functions include math functions, string functions and system functions. There are other types of functions that are mentioned but not discussed in detail. You will also learn how to group rows of data together and provide summary information for the group such as SUM, MIN or MAX.
Lessons:
Exercise: Built-in functions
Module 5: Changing data
In this module you will learn the T-SQL statements for changing table data including UPDATE, DELETE and MERGE as well as various options for INSERT including creating a new table with data from an existing table. You will also see how the system can automatically provide values for columns when inserting data.

Exercise: Modify data
This course consists of training training and is led by a trainer who supervises the participants live. Theory and practice are taught with live demonstrations and practical exercises. The video conferencing software Zoom is used.
This course can be valuable for anyone who needs to write basic SQL or Transact-SQL queries. This includes every who works with data as a data analyst, data engineer, data scientist, database administrator, or database developer.
It can also be useful for others who are peripherally involved with data or want to learn more about working with data, such as solution architects, students, and technology managers.
