The BCM practitioner exam covers the topics defined by the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI):
The examination module does not replace further training to become a "BCM practitioner (BSI)". For thorough preparation, we recommend that you first complete the "BCM Practitioner (BSI)" certificate course. However, the examination can also be booked independently.
The module covers the final exam preparation as well as the exam itself and fully complies with the official BSI guidelines. The total duration is four hours and is divided into two sections, which take place in one continuous live online session:
Exam preparation: The first three hours of the exam module are used to review the most important BCM concepts, clarify open questions and discuss practical cases as well as for technical check-in and organizational tips. Participation in the exam preparation is optional.
Exam: Immediately after the exam preparation, you will answer 50 multiple-choice questions via an online form in a supervised Zoom session. To pass the exam, you must answer at least 60% of the questions correctly.
Please have a valid photo ID ready for the exam and use a computer with a webcam, microphone and speakers. During the exam, you must be alone in a room and may not use any aids.
After passing the exam, you will receive a digital exam confirmation and an open badge that you can share on LinkedIn and other professional networks. With the exam confirmation, you can apply for your official "BCM Practitioner (BSI)" certificate from the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) at no additional cost.
With the BCM practitioner certification, you acquire official proof of your competence in the area of IT emergency management and recovery as well as your knowledge of setting up a business continuity management system in accordance with BSI Standard 200-4.
The BCM practitioner certification is valid indefinitely. The Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) does not yet require recertification.
