1. Deploy and Manage Active Directory Domain Services
This module covers the deployment and management of Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) in on-premises and hybrid environments. You’ll learn how to deploy domain controllers both on-premises and in Azure, manage FSMO roles, create users, groups, and organizational units, and extend your on-premises identity to Azure. You’ll also configure Group Policy objects to enforce security and desktop settings and work with trusts, replication, and multi-site AD DS environments.
2. Manage Windows Server instances and workloads in a hybrid environment
Learn how to configure remote management for Windows Server using Windows Admin Center, PowerShell, SSH, and Remote Desktop, and how to manage Windows Server workloads using Azure Arc, Azure Update Manager, and Azure Automation.
3. Manage Virtual Machines
This module covers the management of virtual machines in on-premises and Azure environments. You’ll learn how to configure Hyper-V hosts, virtual switches, and nested virtualization; manage VM settings, including generations, virtual hard disks, and checkpoints; and secure workloads using the Host Guardian Service and protected VMs. You’ll also learn how to implement high availability and live migration for VMs, run Windows containers, and plan, deploy, and scale Windows Server VMs on Azure—including configuring virtual networks, IP addresses, network security with NSGs and Azure Firewall, and secure remote access via Azure Bastion and JIT.
4. Implement and manage on-premises and hybrid network infrastructure
This module covers the implementation and management of network infrastructure in on-premises and hybrid environments. You’ll learn how to deploy and configure Windows Server DNS with zones, forwarders, conditional forwarders, DNS policies, and DNSSEC, and how to integrate DNS for hybrid name resolution in Azure. You’ll also set up DHCP with scopes, options, and failover, and use IP address management (IPAM) to centrally manage your DNS and DHCP infrastructure.
5. Manage Storage and File Services
This module covers the management of storage and file services in on-premises and hybrid environments. You’ll learn how to deploy Azure File Sync, migrate file servers using Storage Migration Services, and manage Windows Server file shares, including DFS, FSRM, and SMB security. You’ll also configure storage technologies such as storage pools, direct storage pools, storage replication services, data deduplication, and iSCSI.
6. Securing the Windows Server Infrastructure
This module covers securing the Windows Server infrastructure and Active Directory Domain Services. You’ll learn how to harden Windows Server using security baselines, LAPS, and privileged access workstations; configure Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and built-in protection features for Windows clients; and manage Group Policy security settings and audit policies. You’ll also secure Active Directory by managing user permissions, authentication policies, protected users , and service accounts such as gMSA and dMSA, as well as monitoring threats with Microsoft Defender for Identity.
7. Monitor and Troubleshoot Windows Server Environments
This module covers monitoring and troubleshooting in Windows Server environments. You’ll learn how to use performance monitoring, Event Viewer, and audit tools to track server status and compliance, and how to extend monitoring to Azure using Azure Monitor and VM Insights. You’ll also troubleshoot network issues in on-premises and hybrid environments—such as DHCP, DNS, and routing—manage server updates using WSUS and Azure Update Management, and resolve Active Directory issues such as replication errors, Group Policy processing, and hybrid authentication.
Requirements:
This course consists of antraining is led by an instructor who provides live guidance to participants. Theory and practice are taught through live demonstrations and hands-on exercises. The course uses the video conferencing software Zoom.
This course is designed for Windows Serveradministrators who deploy, implement, manage, and troubleshoot Windows Server workloads in on-premises, cloud, or hybrid environments. You manage identity management, security, computing resources, networking, storage, and monitoring for Windows Server, and typically collaborate with architects, administrators , and engineers .
You should have experience managing Windows Server using technologies such as Windows Admin Center, Hyper-V, PowerShell, Azure Arc, Azure Monitor, Azure Update Manager, and Microsoft Defender for Cloud, and be familiar with Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS).
