Microsoft's Copilot for Security transforms IT defense

Contents

Microsoft is ushering in a new era in cybersecurity with the upcoming global launch of Copilot for Security on April 1. This first-of-its-kind generative AI solution promises to fundamentally transform the way security and IT professionals work. Hidden risks are to be detected more efficiently in future, enabling a faster response than before. This is based on extensive data and threat scenarios, including more than 78 trillion security signals processed by Microsoft every day.

According to the latest business study by Microsoft, experienced security experts can do their work 22 percent faster and 7 percent more accurately with Copilot. 97 percent of users surveyed said they would use Copilot again for future tasks. According to Microsoft, these results underline the significant increase in efficiency that Copilot for Security brings to the security workflow.

Flexible license model and new functions

With the introduction of a flexible "pay-as-you-go" license model, Microsoft is expanding the accessibility of its AI-driven security solution. The global availability from April 1 and the multilingualism of the system ensure that companies of all sizes and from all regions of the world can use Copilot for Security.

The new features of Copilot for Security include user-defined prompt books in natural language for common security processes,

the integration of knowledge bases to improve integration into the respective business logic as well as multi-language support and partnerships with third-party providers worldwide. These enhancements ensure that Copilot can be seamlessly integrated into existing security systems to support a comprehensive and effective security strategy.

Microsoft offers Copilot for Security in two versions: as a standalone portal and embedded in existing security products. The integration of Copilot into the Microsoft security product landscape makes it much easier for IT and security experts to benefit from the advantages in terms of speed and accuracy.

New: The Unified Security Operations Platform

One of the most important innovations is the Unified Security Operations Platform, which embeds Copilot into the Defender portal for Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) and Extended Detection and Response (XDR). This integration enables users to investigate and respond to threats more efficiently by automatically highlighting relevant information and increasing efficiency through guided responses.

In the preview version, Copilot in the Microsoft Entra product family, which specializes in identity and access management, improves the investigation of user risks by preventing identity theft and enabling rapid responses to threats. This feature provides customized risk handling guidance and suggests preventative measures.

For data security and compliance administrators, Copilot in Microsoft Purview makes it easier to prioritize and handle critical alerts with concise summaries and built-in insights. In addition, the integration with Intune available in the preview supports IT professionals and security analysts in endpoint management by simplifying root cause identification and troubleshooting, resulting in improved handling of device configurations and error codes.

    AI-supported security and compliance

Microsoft also emphasizes the importance of the secure and responsible use of generative AI. Copilot for Security provides features to identify and control AI risks to ensure the security and compliance of corporate data. These features are critical as they help organizations proactively address the challenges and risks associated with the use of generative AI.
