SAFe survey on the use of artificial intelligence in companies

Contents
A SAFe survey of companies using the Scaled Agile Framework has revealed some insights into the use of AI. The survey was conducted last summer and SAFe has now published the results in a blog post.
This is why the SAFe survey was conducted
Since the release of ChatGPT in November 2022, the global hype surrounding generative artificial intelligence has continued unabated. On the contrary, it is getting bigger and bigger. Amazon, Microsoft and Google are investing billions in AI research. There are new applications and functions that use generative AI almost every week. Microsoft has probably also overtaken Apple on the stock market thanks to its high investments in AI development. Everyone is talking about AI. In fact, it is no longer possible to speak of hype. Artificial intelligence is established and is here to stay.
The team from the Scaled Agile Framework, or rather the SAFe blog, has also recognized this. To find out how companies that use SAFe work with generative AI and use it to implement ideas, they conducted a survey.
Among others, chairpersons and developers in companies from a wide range of industries were surveyed. The Scaled Agile Framework itself contains functions that are based on generative AI. In the survey, the team therefore also wanted to know how these functions are used.
The results of the SAFe survey provide few new insights, but they do show how companies are dealing with the topic of generative AI and what problems and concerns are prevalent.
Findings from the SAFe survey
In the blog, the SAFe team presents five findings from the SAFe survey on generative AI:
1) One of the most important requirements for the development of AI-based solutions is agility. All programs and applications need updates, but generative AI needs to be updated much faster and more regularly to stay current and provide customers with what they need.
2 Most companies are already experimenting with artificial intelligence. However, there are still only a few examples of successfully implemented AI solutions with generative AI. Unsurprisingly, development here is still in its infancy.
3. the smallest finding from the SAFe survey is probably that productivity increases with generative AI. This is fueled by apps and tools that can help out in every area. However, companies still lack the know-how to implement their own AI applications with these tools.
4. also no big surprise: more and more software manufacturers are adding AI functions to their products.
5 The biggest obstacles to the use of AI in companies are concerns about security. Above all, data privacy and legal and moral concerns mean that companies are often still reluctant to fully integrate AI into their operations.
Following the SAFe survey, the team is planning to further expand its own application with AI functions and already has plans for what it wants to implement this year. We will keep you up to date on this. Until then, you can familiarize yourself with SAFe in one of our courses.
