AWS study on AI skills in the workplace

Contents

An AWS study has investigated the use and benefits of AI skills in the German workplace. The results show how important artificial intelligence is in German companies and what benefits employees can gain from AI skills. Overall, the AWS study produced a number of findings in a survey of 1,600 employees and 500 employers on AI skills.

AWS study on AI skills shows that companies are willing to increase salaries

In the survey conducted for the AWS study on AI skills, 86% of entrepreneurs stated that they expect to integrate AI-supported tools into their company by 2028 at the latest. However, the majority of respondents also stated that there is a lack of employees with the necessary AI skills.

This is why most companies in Germany are prepared to pay employees with AI skills up to 26% more.

AWS had already addressed the problems with the integration of AI in German companies in a previous study, which we reported on here. The shortage of skilled workers is one of these problems.

In the latest AWS study on AI skills, 60% of employees stated that they want to improve their AI skills. They hope this will lead to better career opportunities and greater job security. 75% of employers surveyed stated that they expect to use AI in their workplace for more effective and innovative ways of working within the next five years.

The AWS study on AI skills confirms this and shows that the use of AI in German companies is already on the rise. 89% of the entrepreneurs surveyed consider the use of AI in the company to be positive and particularly emphasize the areas of IT, sales and marketing .

AI is also becoming important for employees without AI skills, according to AWS study on AI skills

Not all employees show an interest in improving their AI skills or even engaging with the topic. Overall, however, 95% of respondents recognize the benefits of AI in the workplace, even if they do not intend to work with AI themselves.

This will pose certain challenges for companies in the future. Employees need to be introduced to the possibilities of AI and find AI tools that can also be used without AI skills.

A third of all respondents in the AWS study on AI skills believe that artificial intelligence can increase productivity if it is used correctly.

According to the employers surveyed, one of the biggest obstacles to integrating AI into companies is that they do not know which AI skills are important. 67% of employers stated that they therefore have difficulties providing targeted training and education for employees to improve AI skills.

Basic know-how on the subject of AI is therefore important for employers first and foremost.
