Microsoft survey: AI increases productivity

Contents

A recent survey by Microsoft confirms this: Artificial intelligence increases productivity in the office and improves time management. However, there is room for improvement when it comes to training and risk assessment.

    AI makes you more productive

A total of 9,000 participants were surveyed for an online study on behalf of Microsoft. One in five office workers already use AI at work. However, only 12 percent of employees in areas such as maintenance and production do so.

Among office workers, 28% report greater productivity and just under 20% better time management through the use of AI. The respondents state that AI helps them to access information more quickly and make decisions faster. This means more time for creative and strategic thinking.

However, employees in industrial production do not feel these positive effects as clearly. Only 15 percent report an increase in productivity, while 19 percent report better time management.

    Opportunities and risks

When it comes to assessing the competitive advantages, participants are rather divided. In sectors such as financial and insurance services, energy and IT, a third of respondents believe in advantages. In the cultural and creative industries or logistics, significantly fewer.

When asked about opportunities and risks in their own professional environment, the results among office workers are fairly balanced. Employees in the industrial sector, the so-called "blue collar workers", are more critical of AI at over 40 percent.

    Information deficits with AI

Despite all the advantages, only just under a quarter of respondents feel well informed about the topic of artificial intelligence. This makes it all the more important to offer employees sufficient further education and training when introducing new technologies.

The effects of AI on the world of work are clearly noticeable. Microsoft is therefore continuing the long-term study until the end of July this year. We are excited.

Successfully introducing AI with skill IT

The integration of AI into existing systems requires careful planning and training of all employees. Technology is only as good as the people who use and develop it. To realize the full potential of AI, our Copilot course for decision makers is a good place to start.
