Online: Software license law, open source software and license management

Basics systematically explained - simply and comprehensibly in two half days

This training is held in German.
Regardless of whether it concerns software programming, software use or software distribution, it is important to understand the basic copyright system and to know the principles in software license agreements. This knowledge can help to avoid warnings and prevent unpleasant surprises when issuing licenses or during an audit. Software license management includes an ongoing overview of licenses acquired and software actually used, including open source software. You will receive an initial overview of the open source software license compliance program in accordance with ISO/IEC standard 5230:2020 (Open Chain 2.1.). This training will help you to better understand license texts and end user license agreements (EULA) and IT contracts, including open source software licenses. It discusses the granting of rights of use for software, the copyleft principle in OSS licenses, the transfer of software and whether the purchase of "used software" is permissible or represents a risk of a warning. The training teaches the systematic basics of copyright law for software. You will receive information about which conditions are permitted in software license agreements and what rights you have by law when you use software. The training training consists of 2 modules of approx. 3.5 hours each.
