Where can I find the link to my event?

You will find the link to your course in your learning environment one hour before the course starts. You can find out how to register in your learning environment here. A countdown runs in the learning environment and in the corresponding event until one hour before the start of the event. Once the countdown has ended, you will find your link to the event room there.

When and how can I enter the event room?

You will receive the link to your event one hour before the start in your personal learning environment. Please join the event room at least ten minutes before the start of the event so that you can test your settings (audio, etc.) and adjust them if necessary.

As soon as you have clicked on the link, another browser window will open. In the pop-up window via "Open zoom Meetings", you can join the event via the zoom app.

If no pop-up window has opened, first click on the "Open meeting" button and then on "Open zoom meetings".

You also have the option of downloading the zoom app via "Download now".

If you would like to take part in the event via your browser, you will find the option "Register with your browser" at the bottom.

Do I have to download the desktop app from zoom?

We recommend that you download the free zoom app to be able to use all the functions. You do not need a zoom account for this.

If you are unable to download the app, you can also participate via your browser. To participate via browser, we recommend using Google Chrome or Edge (in the current version). If you wish to participate in the event via an Apple device, please note that not all functions are supported via Safari and Firefox.

What should I do if I cannot download the zoom app?

Some companies do not allow all zoom functions on company laptops. Ask your IT department in advance whether there are any restrictions and whether these could be suspended for the event.

If you wish to participate in the event via an Apple device, please note that not all functions are supported via Safari and Firefox.

Where can I test zoom?

We recommend that you check your video and audio settings in the test room and adjust them correctly if necessary.

What requirements must my PC fulfill?

We recommend that you check early on, at least 2 days before your event, whether your PC meets the specific requirements for zoom. You can find the system requirements here. If in doubt, please contact your company's IT department.

Note for Mac users: Granting macOS permissions for the Zoom client

After downloading the zoom client, please grant your MacOs device the necessary authorizations, which you can find here can be found here.

The room does not open or the link does not work.

Would you like to take part in the event via the zoom app?

1. reinstall zoom app

2. restart the PC

3. try to enter the room again

If participation via the app is still not possible, please try to participate via the browser.

Would you like to take part in the event via your browser?

1. delete your browser cache and cookies.

2. restart the browser and try to enter the room again. We recommend using Google Chrome.

3. if this does not work, please restart your computer and then try to enter the room again.

In rare cases, participation via the browser may be blocked within the company. Please ask your IT department about this in good time.

My company is blocking zoom. What can I do?

If you are unable to download the app, you can also participate via your browser.
If your company blocks zoom, we recommend using a private PC.
Please test early on whether you can use zoom and ask your IT department if necessary.

I'm in the room, but I can't hear anything.

Please check whether the correct output media are set. You can do this in the menu bar under the microphone icon via the drop-down menu. Make sure that your headset is already connected and stored as an output medium in your system settings.

I am in the room, but cannot use all functions (e.g. chat).

Which functions can I not use in the browser version?

Depending on the browser type and configuration, the whiteboard annotation function cannot be used to its full extent.

Will the event be recorded?

The event in zoom will not be recorded.

Tips for the optimal online event

  • Make sure that you can take part in your event from an undisturbed location. This will allow you to concentrate fully on your training.
  • Take part in your event via a desktop PC or laptop/notebook. Participation via cell phone or tablet is not possible or only possible to a very limited extent.
  • We recommend Google Chrome as the browser for participating in your event.
  • Prepare your seat. Have paper and pens ready to take notes and stock up on drinks.
  • Do the system check in good time. Ideally at least 2 days before the start of your event. If there are internal company settings that restrict access to your camera, for example, your IT department can support you in advance.
  • Connect your headset and camera (if you are participating with a desktop PC) and set them as output media in the system settings before you enter the event room.
  • To avoid distractions and disruptions and to increase connection stability, please close all applications that access the Internet. Apps, mail programs, VPN client, etc.
  • For a stable Internet connection, we recommend using a LAN cable.
  • Before you enter the event room, delete the cookies in your browser.
