His research focuses primarily on the role of controllers and the digital transformation of the finance function. Utz Schäffer is the author of numerous articles in leading academic journals such as Accounting, Organizations and Society, Contemporary Accounting Research, European Accounting Review, Management Accounting Research, Management Science and Strategic Management Journal.
