  • The (legal) environment of hospital care and planning.
  • Approach to strategic management.
  • Goals, target system and control specifications.
  • Strategic management tools such as competitive analysis, balanced scorecard, benchmarking, SWOT analysis.

Basics of hospital financing

  • Legal foundations of dualism.
  • Financing of operating costs via DRGs, care budgets, soon to be flat rates, etc.
  • Investment subsidies.
  • Financing in the outpatient sector: hybrid DRGs, AOP catalog, etc.

Accounting and controlling in hospitals

  • Accounting and annual financial statements according to KHBV.
  • Cost accounting in hospitals: cost type, cost center and cost unit accounting as well as contribution margin accounting.
  • DRG calculation, application of the InEK matrix.
  • Operational controlling: profitability calculations, internal reporting, key performance indicator systems.

  • Role of medical controlling.
