Microsoft Fabric in Controlling
Scalable and audit-proof data solutions through efficient data integration
This training is held in German.
Fabric expands the evaluation capabilities of Power BI to include centralized process control and the processing of even larger amounts of data. With a focus on controlling activities, this workshop will teach you how to prepare company data in an even more comprehensive and efficient manner using selected techniques (e.g., Dataflow Gen 2). This will allow you to use the data centrally and even more efficiently for various analyses and your reporting.
Contents
Direct implementation on your own laptop!
Microsoft Fabric Overview
- Overview of OneLake as a central storage body and its technical features.
- Distinction between lakehouse and warehouse.
- Shortcut as a link to other data sources without an ETL process.
- Semantic model based on OneLake.
Medallion architecture
- Bronze: Raw data, directly from source systems (e.g., ERP, CRM).
- Silver: cleaned and harmonized data (e.g., duplicates removed, formats standardized).
- Gold: aggregated, business-ready data for reporting and analysis (e.g., KPIs, forecast data).
- Practical example: All three stages are completed using Dataflow Gen 2.
Data integration in OneLake
- Centralized DataFlows versus decentralized Power Query processes.
- Brief overview of Notebook/PySpark: for very large amounts of data or complex cleanups.
- Brief overview of Azure Data Factory/Pipelines: Orchestration of more complex loads, such as e-mail for successful and failed processes.
Data Activator for Automation
- Alerts and triggers for controlling key figures.
- Automated workflows (e.g., notification in case of deviations).
Hands-on demonstration
- Creating a simple report from OneLake data.
- Create data flow and visualize it in Excel or Power BI.
Learning environment
In your online learning environment, you will find useful information, downloads and extra services for this training course once you have registered.
Your benefit
- You will learn how to use Microsoft Fabric to create a unified database (OneLake) and centrally control processes.
- You will learn how to automate recurring tasks (e.g., data imports, cleanups, e-mail) so that multiple report creators can access the same workflow.
- You can integrate and analyze significantly larger amounts of data and with higher performance than in Power BI.
- By combining Fabric and Power BI, you get the best of both worlds: centralized data storage and flexible visualization for self-service analytics.
- You will understand how you can use Fabric to build a modern, audit-proof, and scalable data architecture that meets the requirements of digitalization and compliance.
Methods
