Equal education for children and young people

With our partner Teach First Deutschland

Courage and self-confidence

Learning for life

Good education for all children and young people in Germany, regardless of their starting conditions - that is what our partner Teach First Deutschland is committed to. Teach First Deutschland trains university graduates from all disciplines to work in schools.

These so-called Fellows work in challenging environments across Germany, together with students and teachers, to find the best possible educational path for them. They support pupils in core subjects, giving them courage and self-confidence. In this way, they help them to take their future into their own hands.

Improving the graduation prognosis of students

The graduation and transition forecasts for the 2022-2024 school years confirm the successful work of the Teach First Fellows:

Within two years, the rate of 4,852 focus students graduating and making a secure connection (group C + D) increased from 17% to 56%.

The number of pupils with poor or no qualifications (group A + B) was reduced by around half of the young people concerned, from 83% to 44%.

4.852

Teach First Deutschland focus students from 2022 to 2024.

56%

of students achieve a qualification and a secure connection.

39%

fewer young people with poor or no qualifications.

"I don't give lessons, but support the pupils where they need help, for example in math. We also play basketball during the breaks, for example, and have time to talk about anything that's on the children's minds."

How our partnership works

Pro bono development - for today and tomorrow

The Haufe Akademie provides Teach First Deutschland pro bono with its experience in the development of people and parts of its digital portfolio for the training of Fellows. This contributes to the expansion of the Fellows' professional expertise and strengthens their pedagogical and social skills. This enables the fellows to respond even more specifically to the individual needs of disadvantaged students and have a lasting impact on their educational and career opportunities. At the end of their school assignment, the fellows bring these skills into their own professional lives.

Promotion - for more opportunities and success

The Haufe Akademie 's specific financial support for the training of four Fellows means that additional Fellows can be deployed at schools. They offer individual support to provide intensive assistance to disadvantaged pupils and improve their educational opportunities. These qualified fellows act as learning guides and role models. With future-oriented projects, they sustainably improve the learning environment and participation opportunities for pupils.

Events and projects - for more knowledge and community

With a focus on students, teachers and fellows, the Haufe Akademie and Teach First Deutschland jointly plan and organize initiatives, events and action days that focus on democracy education, future skills, career and development orientation. Through exchange and presence, more understanding for each other and motivation for achieving common goals is created: a fulfilled life in a sustainable future.

Short documentary

"It changed something great in me."

This is what Mohammad, a pupil at the Karlschule in Freiburg, told us. For two days, we had the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the work of the Fellows at his school.

The result is a moving short documentary. It shows the commitment of the Fellows, together with the teaching staff, to educational equality in schools. Particularly impressive: the gratitude of the students for the fact that there is someone who sticks around and looks at their potential with appreciation.

"We are delighted to be working with the Haufe Akademie. We are firmly convinced that together and with the experience and training measures of this strong partner, we can make a significant difference."
