This course provides you with a basis for external and internal accounting as a lateral and/or re-entrants over a period of 4 weeks. Find out and learn how to set up, understand and interpret a complete balance sheet up to the annual financial statements according to HGB in the shortest possible time. You will also learn about the fundamental differences to international standards (IFRS), which are also becoming increasingly important in medium-sized companies. The most important key figures for balance sheet analysis are explained by our online expert in an easy-to-understand and professional manner.

Webinar 1: Introduction to the subject area of accounting (approx. 2.5 hours)

  • Accounting as a branch of business administration and management
  • Tasks, purpose and areas of accounting.
  • Differences between external and internal accounting.
  • Important legal principles and innovations.
  • Important terms: including accounting, international accounting, bookkeeping, cost and performance accounting, planning and budgeting, inventory, stocktaking, balance sheet.
  • Classification of operating assets as the basis for differentiating between expenses/income, payments/receipts, expenditure/revenue.
  • Exercises: Consolidate your specialist knowledge on the topic "Accounting".

Webinar 2: Practical bookings, balance sheet, profit and loss account (approx. 2.5 hours)

  • Accounting structure: balance sheet and income statement
  • Posting to balance sheet accounts - Changes in value in the balance sheet - Assets and liabilities - Source and application of funds.
  • Posting to income statement accounts and effects on the income statement.
  • Postings taking VAT into account.
  • How are the annual financial statements prepared? Organization of financial accounting, keyword: digitization.
  • Exercises: From theory to practice - calculation examples and exercises,
    Accounting records/accounting according to the industrial chart of accounts (this is available for you in your learning environment).

Webinar 3: The annual financial statements according to HGB, tax law and IFRS (approx. 2.5 hours)

  • Basis of valuation: Section 252 HGB.

  • German principle of prudence vs. fair presentation according to IFRS.

  • Valuation of assets - fixed assets and depreciation - property, plant and equipment .

  • Equity and liabilities: Deferred income - Provisions - Liabilities.

  • Key differences between HGB and IFRS

  • Where can you find what and what other information can be obtained?

  • Exercises: Consolidate your specialist knowledge in the areas of "Annual financial statements" and "Closing entries".

Webinar 4: Analysis of the annual financial statements and its components as well as the summarized performance review (approx. 2.5 hours)

  • Summary: External accounting information - Obligations of the annual financial statements - Information and publication - Notes - Management report.
  • Evaluation of the external annual financial statements: The most important key figures for balance sheet analysis.
  • Capital resources - investment - financing - asset accumulation - liquidity - cash flow analysis.
  • Reporting for controlling and management.
  • Summarized performance review.

Procedure: 

  • Each module consists of a lecture and an exercise and discussion component.
  • Between the four webinars, you will consolidate your acquired knowledge with exercises.

  • Finally, document your acquired knowledge with an optional e-test with certificate.
