Software license law, open source software and license management

Basics systematically explained - simple and understandable in one day

This training is held in German.
The design, use and distribution of software require a solid understanding of copyright law and the principles of software license agreements. With this knowledge, warnings can be avoided and risks associated with licensing or audits minimized. Effective software license management includes the ongoing monitoring of purchased licenses and the software actually used, including open source software. This training provides an introduction to the open source software license compliance program according to ISO/IEC standard 5230:2020 (Open Chain 2.1). It provides a deeper understanding of license texts, end user license agreements (EULA) and IT contracts. The focus is on granting rights of use, the copyleft principle in open source licenses, legal aspects of passing on software and the permissibility of used software. The aim of the seminar is to convey the systematic basics of copyright law for software and to explain the legal requirements in software license agreements in a comprehensible manner.
