This course covers everything from the basic techniques for working efficiently with Excel to the development of data models, the creation of KPIs and the concise visualization of analysis results in interactive reports. As part of the individual seminars, the course offers a sound introduction to all data analysis tools relevant to controlling. These include Excel calculation functions, pivot tables, Power Query, Power Pivot and the most important visualization tools.

As part of three mandatory seminars and one elective seminar, you will qualify as an Excel expert in controlling in 8 days. The content and topics are systematically coordinated and complement each other. By selecting the elective seminar, you can decide for yourself at which Excel knowledge level you start your qualification. You decide when and where you complete which course module within two years. You can book the modules individually or at an affordable package price.

After successfully passing the final exam, you will receive the "Certified Excel Expert in Controlling" certificate from the Haufe Akademie and the Mannheim School of Management (HdWM).

Specialists and qualified employees with controlling and cost accounting tasks who have previously only used basic Excel functions.
A good knowledge of Excel is required to complete the mandatory seminars. Please check whether you have the prior knowledge required for the compulsory seminars. The required basic knowledge is also taught in the elective seminar "Excel for controllers".

Final examination

Examination requirements

The prerequisite for taking the e-exam is successful participation in the three compulsory seminars "Excel Tools in Controlling: Formulas and Functions", "Excel Tools in Controlling: Getting Started with VBA Programming" and "Business Intelligence with Excel" as well as an elective seminar. We recommend taking the exam shortly after attending the last seminar.

Exam contents

The contents of the compulsory seminars are relevant to the examination. You will work on practical tasks and knowledge questions.

Form of examination

The e-exam is an online-based exam on your PC and lasts 60 minutes. You can take the exam in the comfort of your own home at a time of your choosing. The exam is based on single or multiple-choice questions. Once you have completed the exam, you will immediately see whether you have passed or failed. The certificate will be sent to you afterwards.
