This training is held in German.
The aim of numerous data analyses that are implemented with Excel in controlling is to create well-structured and target group-oriented reports. Five classic report types cover the majority of requirements: Status reports, period comparisons for years, quarters and months, YTD reports, target/actual comparisons and forecasts. The training covers important calculation functions as well as general working techniques that controllers can use to significantly increase their efficiency when implementing reports.

  • Access to external data with Power Query.
  • Remove unnecessary table contents.

Important calculation functions for conditional calculations and the creation of dynamic time series in the YTD report

  • EDATE(), END-OF-MONTH(), INDEX()/COMPARISON(), SUMMEWENNS(), IFERROR().
  • Create conditional calculations in Excel.
  • Use different reference functions in Excel.
  • Generate time series in workbooks using calculation functions.

 Integration of classic and new dynamic matrix functions in YoY evaluations

  • SEQUENCE(), UNIQUE(), FILTER(), SORT BY() and others.

  • Basic rules for data visualization.
  • Case studies for data visualization (status report and deviation report).

Dynamic control of report content without programming knowledge and pivot tables using the example of target/actual comparison and forecast

  • CHOICE(), FIRST VALUE(), WENNS(), TREND(), forecast sheet, moving average, exponential smoothing.
  • Excursus: Limits of pivot tables in reporting.
  • Use of calculation functions to perform alternative calculations (e.g. selection of different plan values, time periods or regions).
  • Integrate control functions to protect against incorrect inputs.

Please observe the following installation instructions:

Microsoft Excel (from version 2019 or 365 version from 2022). In addition, you need the activated add-in "Data analysis tools" in the respective Excel version as well as the installed and activated COM add-in Power Pivot in Excel.

Please check in advance that these add-ins are activated or have the add-ins activated by a user with administrator rights before training .
