FAQ
PMI®, headquartered in the United States, is a leading global professional organization for project management and represents hundreds of thousands of members and certification holders in over 200 countries. The association’s goal is to develop consistent global standards and qualifications and to highlight the importance of project management as a profession. The PMBOK® Guide, developed by PMI®, is a globally recognized standard reference for project management. PMI® certifications are recognized worldwide and comply with the ISO 9001 quality standard.
You can find more up-to-date information on the PMI® website.
The CAPM® certification is an internationally recognized entry-level certification in project management and is primarily aimed at individuals who wish to demonstrate their initial knowledge of project management or who are looking to start a career in the field. It confirms that you have mastered the fundamentals of project management as defined by the PMI® and are familiar with the core concepts of modern project work.
To be eligible for the CAPM® exam, PMI® requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 23 contact hours of formal project management training. You will earn these required contact hours as part of this exam preparation course.
The CAPM® exam consists of 150 multiple-choice questions and lasts 3 hours. The questions assess your knowledge of and ability to apply the fundamentals, processes, and methods of project management as defined by the Project Management Institute (PMI®).
The content is based on the CAPM Examination Content Outline as well as PMI publications such as the PMBOK® Guide and other practice-oriented project management resources.
A key focus of the exam is on understanding typical project situations and identifying the appropriate approach. In addition to theoretical knowledge, the exam therefore also assesses the ability to correctly understand the relationships between methods, roles, and processes in project management.
During training access to a practice exam with over 500 exam-style questions. This will help you identify your weaknesses early on and address them specifically. As a result, your preparation will be more efficient and much more focused than if you were studying on your own.
PMI® certification establishes a standardized framework for project management. In organizations with many points of interaction, a common project management language and methodology help to clearly align expectations, roles, and procedures.
For participants, the certification also serves as a verifiable proof of competence, as it is tied to an external exam. This ensures that their expertise is objectively assessed and documented—a clear advantage when it comes to projects, job applications, or promotions.
The Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) certification is valid for three years. To keep it valid beyond that, you must demonstrate 15 PDUs within those three years—that is, eligible professional development and practical activities as defined by PMI®. Once you have earned these PDUs, you can apply for recertification with PMI® and renew your certification without having to retake the exam.
For more information on recertification, Professional Development Units (PDUs), and obtaining your CAPM® certification , please visit the Project Management Institute’s website.
