Questions about the course content
This course is a comprehensive, practice-oriented training program designed specifically for anyone who wishes to professionally establish, operate, or expertly develop an internal reporting office within their company in accordance with the Whistleblower Protection Act. It combines legal expertise with operational practice, methodological skills, and a specialized focus area of the participant’s choice—and concludes with a recognized final exam. The course content is explicitly designed to provide the specialized expertise required under Section 15(2) of the Whistleblower Protection Act (HinSchG)—the legal proof that companies must provide for individuals entrusted with operating the reporting office. Those who complete this course not only lay the foundation for legally compliant whistleblower reporting practices but also document their qualifications with a recognized certificate from the University of Applied Sciences for Management, Mannheim (HdWM)—a credential that carries weight both internally and externally.
The Whistleblower Protection Act imposes a requirement that many companies still underestimate: The individuals entrusted with operating the internal reporting office must explicitly possess the necessary expertise. General compliance training or a broad-based introductory seminar does not meet this legal requirement. This course is specifically tailored to the requirements of Section 15(2) of the Whistleblower Protection Act (HinSchG) and imparts precisely the knowledge that the law prescribes for the competent operation of an internal reporting office—from the legal foundations and case handling to the implementation of confidentiality requirements and data protection regulations. The certificate issued by HdWM Mannheim documents this expertise externally—to company management, the supervisory board, and, in the event of an audit, to regulatory authorities as well.
A whistleblower system that no one knows about or trusts does not fulfill its legal purpose—nor does it provide any added value as an early-warning system for the company. The course addresses this problem on several levels: The second required module covers communication and awareness-raising as a separate topic area and explains how to raise internal awareness of the whistleblower system, what information the law requires employers to provide to employees, and how compliance communication must be structured to build genuine trust. The elective module “Designing Effective Compliance Communication” further deepens this expertise—for anyone who wants to convey compliance messages particularly effectively. Those who master these skills transform the whistleblower system from a legal obligation into a genuine tool for corporate integrity.
