In this course, you will learn how to securely set up and reliably operate Proxmox VE in a day-to-day business environment. These fundamentals will help ensure that your virtualization platform runs smoothly, is easy to manage, and minimizes downtime. You will build a solid foundation—from installation to day-to-day management—and practice typical tasks and troubleshooting in a hands-on, practical setting.

- Authentication & Permissions (Users/Groups/Realms, Roles/Permissions), built-in firewall
10. Troubleshooting
- Common Causes of Errors & Solutions
Requirements:
You have basic experience in system administration on Linux or Windows. Basic networking skills and a general understanding of virtualization are a plus.
- Installing and Configuring a Proxmox VE Host (Updates, Basic Networking, Management Access)
- Using the Proxmox management interfaces (GUI and CLI) for day-to-day operations
- Creating and managing VMs and LXC containers, including common administrative tasks
- Setting up practical virtual networks (bridges, bonding, VLANs, SDN basics)
- Setting Up and Using Storage for Virtualization on Individual Servers
- Performing VMware migrations, including typical post-migration tasks to ensure a smooth cutover
- Implementing a Backup and Restore Strategy with Proxmox Backup Server and Retention
- Securing the environment with Realms, roles/permissions, and an integrated firewall
- Systematic troubleshooting of common causes of failure to reduce downtime
This course consists of antraining is led by an instructor who provides live guidance to participants. Theory and practice are taught through live demonstrations and hands-on exercises. The course uses the video conferencing software Zoom.
This course is for you if you are a system administrator, system engineer, or virtualization/infrastructure administrator; an IT manager at an SME; or a Linux administrator—and you want to deepen your practical knowledge of VMs, containers, and operations, and/or are planning a migration from VMware.
