Basics for leadership in project management

Leading projects is a management task involving great challenges to your leadership and communication competencies. Your tasks involve winning over employees for project goals and controlling communication both in the project team and with stakeholders. You should settle different interests and polarities before conflicts arise. This training (basic knowledge) shows you where your personal growth potential in project management lies.

Content

The role of the project leader

The project context and leadership requirements: Role definition, self-image, management tasks and management tools in projects.

Dealing with hierarchies, clients, external parties, team members and departments.

Leadership and communication

Project management as a communication task.

Developing the communication culture.

Prepare, lead and follow up on management dialogue in a targeted manner (e.g. delegation, coaching, motivation, controlling, feedback).

Practising project management and team leading

Selecting the team.

Reflecting on own and other preferences relating to work style and communication based on a personality model.

Opportunities and limits of motivating in projects.

Shaping team dynamics.

Conflict resolution competencies

Symptoms of conflicts.

Avoiding conflicts.

Possibilities for conflict resolution.

Basic knowledge of project management (as conveyed in the basic seminars) is a prerequisite for attending. Different levels of prior knowledge in the field of communication are taken into account.
